The donation button is there so that users can donate towards the cost of ad-free and premium shoutbox.
Simply put;
Ad-Free for 50,000 clicks on proboards is 7$, which is roughly £3.38.
A premium shoutbox for a month is roughly £1. A premium shoutbox includes the following features which are not available with the normal free version:
- Archive of messages - No ads - High capacity - Auto refresh - Sound notification on message - "Who's Online" display - Password protected names and moderators - User integration - And some behind the scenes stuff (style editing, moderation etc)
So even if you donate a penny, it all goes towards eventually either getting ad-free, or a premium shoutbox.
Alternatively you can buy credits for ad-free for the forum here.
And to purchase a 'gift' in the form of premium shoutbox for the shoutbox go here. Put psrv in the username box.
Donating to paypal may also help us upgrade our social network site.
If you buy from yesasia, go through this link:

Thanks to DEV1L for a kind donation of £1.
Now - should it go towards ad free or a months premium shoutbox?Re: Donation Button Post by kaspa on Nov 30, 2007, 7:37pm
Ad free definitely. I've never really liked shoutboxes.Re: Donation Button Post by dev1l on Nov 30, 2007, 8:15pm
I dont mind what it goes on, you do seem to get more for your money from the shoutbox as it unlocks quit a few features but it was to go towards the site in anyway it needs so anything you think needs done most DGRe: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Nov 30, 2007, 11:08pm
Thanks again - much so - to a further donation of £1.90 by DEV1L. We're nearly there for ad free - 50k clicks ^^Re: Donation Button Post by mkwone on Dec 1, 2007, 6:29pm

About 50-60p more till ad-free according to paypal...unless it's in the process of updating the total figure.Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Jan 15, 2008, 9:13pm
Shall I upgrade the shoutbox then considering that it's unlikely we'll get more donations?Re: Donation Button Post by codey47 on Jan 15, 2008, 9:53pm

Note: I've added a shopto affiliate link to the affiliation rota. If you click on it and buy something from there psrv will get a small percentage of the money. This is to help support the shoutbox and ad-free.Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Mar 9, 2008, 1:48pm
Right, I think we have enough for one more month of premium shoutbox, so if anyone is feeling generous
Note: added a new way to donate with regards to shoutbox. There's either donate to paypal, or donate here - put psrv in the username box.Re: Donation Button Post by silphonica on Mar 15, 2008, 7:11pm

We only have one month left for ad-free (basically, next month) and then it's gone so if anyone wants to donate even a penny, it'd help Re: Donation Button Post by codey47 on Sept 1, 2008, 2:48am
I s'pose having ads isn't a big iffy Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Sept 1, 2008, 12:58pm
Ty to the donation
Also, we're now affiliates with GAME so you can click through the link in the affiliates bar or this:

was gonna ask why are these links going in the donation button topic...and then it "clicks"Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Dec 30, 2008, 11:58am
Well yet again ad-free is coming to an end....so if anybody is willing to buy us ad-free for next month (since proboards don't take paypal ¬_¬) it will be greatly appreciated:
It's coming to the end of the month...any donations would be good to help keep the ripway, shoutbox, and ad-free going Re: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on Apr 27, 2009, 5:22pm
I'm setting up a Paypal as we speak so PSRV may receive a little cash if I'm in a good mood. Would you rather I buy the premium shoutbox or donate a fiver?Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Apr 27, 2009, 5:33pm
It's up to you, for now though we have premium shoutbox till June, so paypal would be preferred for the ripway. Or you can always just buy a ad-free month if you have google checkout @ http://www.proboards.com/credit-purchase.cgi?psrv.proboards.com (I usually send any money in paypal to someone I know to cover the cost of a months ad-free and they purchase with google checkout ).
Thankyou kindly for the offer Re: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on Apr 27, 2009, 5:52pm
No problem. I think I'll just use paypal then as I don't have google check out.Re: Donation Button Post by hcfwesker on Apr 27, 2009, 6:48pm
I feel you guys. I too, pay the $7 amonth fee to remove ads. Wish they had a yearly or 6 month plan. $7 a month is a little steep, but you gotta do it if you want to make the forum more appealing to guests and membrs.
Hope you guys get some donations in. Might wanna try some ways to encourage members, like special privileges, or rewards, but i have no idea what would get them to actually donate money.
Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Apr 27, 2009, 7:21pm
Yeah, a yearly or 6 month plan would be a lot easier...especially as we don't always use up the page views we have for ad-free.
I personally can't think of any special privileges, all forum extras seem to go towards the competitions I do and referring people here.Re: Donation Button Post by hcfwesker on Apr 28, 2009, 6:39am
Well, crap!!!! my ad free just ran out. And i'm not shelling out $7 for 4 days
yeah, that really is stupid how no matter what., they cut it off on the end of each month.Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Apr 28, 2009, 12:58pm
Do you have it on guest viewing too? I accidentally left it on guest viewing one month and all 50k were gone in half the month or less...Re: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on May 6, 2009, 8:39pm
Sorry about not donating yet. I still haven't validated my Paypal. I'll get it done soon.Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on May 6, 2009, 9:09pm
It's alright Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on May 15, 2009, 7:04pm
Thanks to raz for a donation of £1...which unfortunately, because paypal are such cheeky bastards, lost 33p just for it to be transferred. So we have a total of 0.77p in the donation cup atm XD
Re: Donation Button Post by razgriz on May 15, 2009, 9:27pm
XD
bastards lol
it'll be like another year before they give me another free poundRe: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on May 15, 2009, 9:32pm
I need to wait for my bank statement to come so I may be a while...Re: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on Jul 5, 2009, 8:29pm
Hate to double post and sound like I'm trying to get glory but did my donation go through?Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Jul 5, 2009, 8:59pm
Yes, thanks for the donation
That'll help pay for the shoutbox premium for another 5 months Re: Donation Button Post by sgtdaniel on Jul 6, 2009, 9:33am
Good good, glad to see it went through Re: Donation Button Post by dynastygal on Oct 4, 2009, 6:23pm
Well, we are a bit short again...I've managed to obtain 3 more months on the shoutbox, but then there's none left to buy more premium on it. So *puppy dog eyes*
