how about more PS3 game related advertising?

at the moment, the only game we all "share" is BP, but im sure others will come along. anyway, my point is lets use the games for adverts.

Afterall, its BP where we got codey and people to join. If we can get a few more people unlock the hunter Spur then we can film the italian job thing, ive done a few more races online (im now rank 392 in world) and theyre all going on facebook and youtube.

i think we need some good videos of us nailing challenges to. its been a while since we've all been on together, i know it might get a bit boring after a while, but if we can just film 7 of us going over a jump, one after the other and doing a roll or flat spin it will look good.

there arent that many vids on youtube yet, and theyre mostly races.

How about we say saturday night? Find some good challenges and nail them, ill film it all, and hey presto

then we can look into other games. Im not sure what other games 75% of us are going to get and play together, but a few of us have got COD4, warhawk etc.

Im gonna try and do MGS4 on european extreme when i get it, that would make a good vid

so yeah, and ideas for games we can exploit?

Well it seems the PS3 section is only inhabited by about four of us, and the BP advertising strategy didn't work too well unfortunately...as many buggered off after a while.

I've advertised this place to death and it seems just nobody is interested, even the current admins are going on hiatus with regards to this place. It's a shame. Because in the beginning I was against the idea, but now I'm the one solely running this place :|

It'd be nice to have people like EWS and Moglet back because they're good posters. But I can't contact them.

could you contact them through ps.com? email them from when they signed up?

RRZ's vid of his self acing DMC4 gave me an idea for tutorial vids

im gonna make one on how to nail barrel rolls (after i learn how to nail barrell rolls) and shove PSRV in the corner lol

i can Broll the takedown 4x4 now and again, so that should impress people! (ill cut out the ones i fail to land lol)

That since ps.com was a raging ball of hormones and arguments occur often that this would just end up the same.

and with the lack of tight ass "you must not say crap or poo" mods it gives us freedom to say fuck and talk about rude stuff as though it were with my mates at uni/college/school

in regards to making the community larger have you thought about actually getting a domain and server up and creating a forum and moving away from proboards it's not that expensive i know first hand, and i think getting away from proboards would be a massive step up

The problem with stepping away from proboards is there are no converters for posts/members, proboards is actually one of the easiest boards to manipulate in terms of design compared to most other boards (it's also the one i'm the most familiar with for coding etc and as I'm the only one shifting my weight around here admin wise there's little point in moving to a forum I have no clue in designing and manipulating). Although it took ages, proboards allowed us to make a front panel..not the best mind, but it works. We've also been able to give people the option of having the forum in list form and non front panel.

Plus it took ages to get us this far and even so our members are dwindling....a move would lose even more members (as well as 20k in posts).

So basically it comes down to:

Money
Lack of apt designers (we can't even get one to stick to doing the buttons for us here)
Lack of coders who could code this forum layout onto others
Lack of experience (by me) of other boards and the inability of a lot of boards to incorporate this design easily

I'm just one person. I couldn't create a successful site even if my life depended on it.

We're the third/fourth forum to be made from ps.commer's...ps.com ain't gonna spit much more out for anyone now. And other places aren't interested in us either.

Like I've said before, designers and coders etc arn't just going to come and bite you on the ass, you or us as a community have to go looking for them.

Th main reason you're not prepared to switch is because of the posts not being transferable. However a work around is using this forum as an archive which is linked to on a new forum. This is the method many forums use when switching providers.

Ekim, the last time this forum looked for a coder it took months for him to get his ass in gear �_�

And another reason is transferring this look. It's probably not possible on most other forums...that, and money. Not to mention there is little point in a small forum expanding then losing members in the process.

Other forum systems such as PHPBB and vBul, allow full customisation. As you keep telling me, Proboards is limited. ��

If we expand and in a way ditch our Ps.com roots, then we may get new members. I think one of the problems with lack of members is the fact that we're just trying to be the 'old style' Ps.com. If we maybe had a defining feature then we may get new members.

PHPBB...cannot stand. Proboards is limited in some aspects but it's a lot easier to customise the look, than say the one's you mentioned.

Even without the mention of ps.com, people still don't join. Trust me. I've advertised this place to death with little success.

The only thing mimicking the old style is the layout. That is all. And people who don't like the colour scheme have the option of other colour schemes.

I doubt we could think of a successful defining feature....especially as we're struggling as it is.

Proboards is not easier to customise, you just need to have coding skills to customise the other two.

I even offered you the chance of getting a vBul licence for �10, I could have even got someone to be a forum tech to help with the customisation and running of the forum, yet you said no.

I'm an admin on another forum that runs on phpbb and well...the software is awful. Awful admin panel, awful look, lots of problems blah blah blah.

You offered for someone to sit there and repost 18k worth of posts...you also offered something for money which neither I or the psrv donation pot has. You also offered it at a time when we didn't have coders/designers, etc...and we still don't have them.

What's the point in taking up an offer for a forum software we haven't got the people to design/code for? Let alone the money.

PHPBB is Open-source you can't expect too much, Is the forum you're an admin on a free online version or they're own server hosted version?

All that would need to be paid for is the hosting.

My offer was: Vbul licence with 7 or so months left, for �10. This was being sold by my mate, who would if you wanted, code the forum design and help with the general running of it. The only other cost that needed paying was hosting, which isn't too expensive.

With regards to the converter, As I have said before, why not just link to this forum? Have it as an archive. It's the option most forums choose.

Money could be taken from the pot, Hosting can be as little as �10 a month, it's not too much. I'm sure if the members knew the prices and such then they may be a little more willing to help.
